Functions

SICILIAN LUNCH
An iconic annual event for Golden Grove Estate wines - held every February and tickets sold ahead of time. If you wish to bring family and friends - book early!

Easier than flying to Italy - Golden Grove Estate Wines presents a traditional Sicilian vintage lunch. Bring in the harvest and join in the traditional grape crushing festivities and enjoy a mouth watering lunch washed down with wines of your choice.

Once a year the Estate celebrates the start of vintage with a Sicilian theme and invites you to experience some of Sicily’s prominent traditions. The event is staged in the format of a full fun filled afternoon starting with fellowship and wine tasting with the family in the winery, followed by a buffet lunch served with some very traditional dishes.

Audience participation is a main feature with volunteers asked to carry home harvest in the form of a procession, lead by the goddess of the vineyard. The grapes are dumped into a large tub and after being blessed volunteers are called to stomp the grapes to the music of the tarantella until the juice runs free. A desert is served called Mostarda, a pudding made from the grape juice. The process for the making of this very different dessert takes three days and is very much a Sicilian tradition with the first crush and complemented with the pickly pear as a fresh fruit.

The afternoon is jam packed with entertainment with local folk singers and free multi draws with various acts. The event is different, traditional and fun filled. A great experience for all ages. Come help celebrate the Start of Vintage, you will Love It.
